Note: if you have not already read the General FAQ it might behoove you to do so before proceeding. Q: Who is in charge? A: Corey Soren Rosmani is the ultimate authority for War of Power. The three org leaders are the primary voices for their specific org. In general, if you have an org specific question or concern, you should consult your org leader. A matter of a higher nature should be addressed to Corey. Q: What is the time frame?
A: We are set 6 months before the War of Power, years before the Breaking of the World and three millennia before the events of the Three Ta'veran as depicted in Robert Jordan's books. Specifically, in our time frame the sides of the Light and Shadow are preparing for a War, not only through marshalling forces but by political maneuvering. The following is a list of differences between our time line and that of Jordan's books that newbies often overlook. Please be aware that in the War of Power: - There were male Aes Sedai. Saidin has not yet been poisoned by the Taint. - Tar Valon does not yet exist. However, there is a Hall of Servants housing both male and female Aes Sedai. - Warders do not exist, and neither does bonding. - Shock lances (laser rifles, more or less) are the standard weapons, and artillery and explosives were most likely used as well. Before the war the entire art of swordsmanship existed largely as a gentlemens' sport; during the war higher ranking officers wore swords as ceremonial regalia, but they would have been used in combat only in close quarters.
A heron mark blade in this time period denotes the rank of general, not a blademaster (though some generals like Lews Therin and Be'lal also happened to be blademasters). - There are no Ajahs among the Aes Sedai as they are understood in Rand's time. - Transportation by non-channeling means is achieved largely by Jo-cars (hovercraft)and Sho-wings (aircraft) and monorails through the cities. Horses and ships may have been used during the war but as secondary means only. - There are no nations of Rand's day like Andor or Shienar. Nor is there a Blight. Nor do any of the original nations of Randland exist. If you want to be from Manetheran you will have to join Trolloc Wars. There are no maps of the pre-Breaking world, so we don't know what it looked like. All we have are the names of a few cities. Q: What characters may I create?
A: Let us first define what characters you may not create. - You may not play Lews Therin, or Ilyena Sunhair, or one of the Chosen, or any other specifically historical character. These characters exist only as NPC's.
- You may not create characters that have god like abilities. An example of this might be a character that is more powerful than the Chosen or Lews Therin. - You may not create characters that conflict with the timeline. Examples of this would be Seanchan, warrior Aiel, Warders, and Asha'man. - You may not create characters that overtly contradict the spirit of the Wheel of Time universe as defined by Robert Jordan. An example of this might be anything out of Dungeons and Dragons. Most characters that do not fall within the above guidelines will be accepted. An org leader can reject an application to the org if s/he thinks the character goes beyond acceptable boundaries. Q: What are the rules for roleplaying? A: There are only a few common sense regulations: - No character played by a member of this site may be killed, captured, or harmed without the player's express permission.
- This is more of an adult site, with mature characters and themes. Nevertheless: violence, profanity, and sexual innuendo should be used tastefully. - Above all: be creative, original, and have fun! Q: What is the weapons and one power rating scale?
A: A general means to assess your character's ability with weapons and channeling. By having to conform to a graded numerical scale of abilities, players realize they cannot create characters with god like abilities. These numbers are given to you by your org leader, and our known only to you personally and the administration. If you disagree with the limit of abilities placed on you by your org leader, you may appeal to Corey. His word will be final.
